Wellness Exams and Vaccination Schedules

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems.
Vaccinations are scheduled according to your pet's individual needs. We will assess your pet's risk of exposure to diseases and administer vaccinations as needed for protection. A complete physical examination is performed at the time of vaccination.
In addition to wellness exams and vaccinations,
we also offer a wide range of veterinary services
to keep your companions feeling their best:

Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pets. Our pharmacy stocks a wide range of the prescription medications for many aliments which affect our four-legged friends. We also work in close contact with compounding pharmacies to ensure that medications are prepared in formulations that are easy for owners to administer and patients to take with minimal stress.

Individualized Flea/Tick Control Programs: We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas and ticks in your house, in your yard, and on your pet.

Dietary Counseling: Some pets require special food, and all pets benefit from a balanced diet. At RBAH we carry Hill's Science Diet and Prescription Diets for all your pets nutritional needs. As of July 2007, we will also offer Solid Gold Pet Food. With new research showing diet can control or slow progression of many disease processes, optimal nutrition is important in every pet's long term health. We will also provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.

Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house-soiling and aggression.

Microchip Identification:
RBAH advocates microchip identification as a means of permanent identification for your pet. We use the HomeAgain microchip. Microchipping can be done on an outpatient basis and many clients elect to microchip when their animal is spayed or neutered. A tiny microchip, the size of a grain of rice, is implanted using a syringe between the animal's shoulder blades. This procedure takes just seconds and is virtually painless. Individual numbers are registered in the national database managed by the HomeAgain Pet Recovery Service. When a lost pet arrives at a participating animal shelter or veterinarian clinic, a Universal Scanner is used to identify the unique encoded number on the implanted microchip and the owner is identified and contacted immediately. We scan all strays for a microchip in an attempt to reunite them with their owners. For more information, visit Home Again's website at http://www.homeagain.com/.
